Direct Access( A) & A2 Motorcycle Training (DAS) with SMART RIDER

All our Direct Access training prices are based on one student with one instructor, (usually on test days there are  2 students).

Essentially all DAS motorbike training is priced per hour and the amount of training you need depends on your experience and how quickly you learn.

However we have put together some packages which offer a saving on our standard prices.

These DAS Packages are aimed at car drivers; non car drivers would need more time:

For All Training we can Provide Free use of Helmets , Gloves And Waterproofs.

12 hours Regular Rider (extra lessons £45 per hour) £399

15 hours Some Experience (extra lessons £30 per hour) £499

20 hours Novice (extra lessons £25 per hour) £599

This includes instruction, bike hire, fuel and full insurance on the bike.

Training can be done in a few days or spread over a few weeks, whichever suits you. Generaly our courses are split into Half day sessions, 3 hours at a time.

If it suits you to do complete days, we do 3 hours in the morning, have a good hour off the bike at lunch time then another 3 hours in the afternoon.

The current motorcycle test has been going for some time now and we have had a good number of experienced riders doing the whole thing in 12 hours. And a good number of novices doing it in 20 hours.

However the module 1 part of the test does need good slow control and confidence for the 32mph exercises. People vary in how quickly they gain this control and confidence.

Choosing a Course length

How long you training course needs to be depends on your knowledge and ability.

We will help you decide when you do the CBT course.

You need to be ride a  bike correctly and confidently. ( the big bikes are easier than little ones provided you can touch the floor). If you can a short course might be enough , if not you need a long course.

Your roadcraft needs to be good. You either need to know the area very well OR be good at looking well ahead and planning.

We will make sure that you can deal with all the Junctions in Bury St. Edmunds correctly.

It should not be necessary for us to show a Car driver how to deal with every junction

A None car driver would need to go everywhere. It will take about 10 hours to take you round them all, assuming that we only need to do them once.

Notice the 15 hour example below only has 6 hours allocated.

So a none car driver would need a longer course.

We always allow you to upgrade to a longer course at the end of first day if you feel the need to.

HOW A TYPICAL COURSE WOULD WORK

A Typical 15 hour course, Would be.

Day 1.  3 hours practice for Module 1

Day 2. ( OR after lunch break on day 1)  3 hours practice for Module 2. This is also getting you more confident on the bike.

Day 3.  3 hours practice Module 1 Test in the afternoon.

Day 4. 3 hours practice for Module 2 test in the afternoon.

If, on day 1,  you decide that you should have picked a 20 hour course , you can upgrade by paying the difference on that day.

Module 1 and 2 tests need to be at least 10 ( 7 Working) days apart. If not you will lose your £75.00 test fee if you do not pass the Module 1.

You can have the tests closer than that if you like.

Most do pass (98% last year) however whilst it's not a difficult test, and only lasts a few minutes ( about 3-4 minutes actual riding) it is very precise & when you add in test nerves, it sometimes goes wrong.
